After a busy start to the semester, preparing for the Greek events and Rush Week, the Brothers of Sigma Chi are happy to see their hard work pay off. A big part of the success this semester has been recruitment. During the Rush Week the Brothers got the chance to meet everyone who came out. The bids were given throughout the week and when formal pledging came around, none of the Brothers had seen more numbers before. Everybody was excited to meet others and the fact that almost everyone who was given a bid showed up for formal pledging had a lot to say about the new pledge class, Gamma Lambda.
The Chapter Advisor, Roger Moody, and some of the other officers of the undergraduate chapter each gave a short speech, explaining what they do for their positions and also answering questions. The first meetings usually tend to be overwhelming and some were concerned that other obligations such as school work, ROTC and club activities will stop them from making it through. The truth of the matter is that pledging may be difficult at times but it will teach you how to manage your time and be more responsible. As a lot of the Greeks at Embry-Riddle say: "It's the best time you will never want to do again".
The Sigma Chi Brothers know that every member of the Gamma Lambda pledge class has what it takes to make it through. Congratulations to all of you and welcome to what will be one of the greatest experiences of your life.
